About the HAI WATCHDOG* Awards
Healthcare facilities everywhere continue to make strides in preventing HAIs, thanks to the innovative and effective techniques of dedicated healthcare professionals. Kimberly-Clark created the HAI WATCHDOG* Awards in recognition of HAI champions who are making a difference in reducing and preventing these serious, often life-threatening infections.
Because the HAI issue is so important to every healthcare facility, the goal of the awards is to help publicize these HAI prevention initiatives and empower healthcare providers to share and learn from each other.
New for 2011! Now Honoring HAI Prevention Efforts in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. in addition to the U.S. and Canada
Healthcare facilities in each region will be recognized for their outstanding programs and efforts. Whether the HAI prevention program can demonstrate measured success reducing HAI rates, or the initiative has made progress toward building awareness around HAI prevention but cannot yet be measured quantitatively—any facility in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the U.K. can be eligible for the HAI WATCHDOG* Awards.
Please submit programs that are or were active during these time frames:
U.S., Canada, U.K. - Between October 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011
Australia, New Zealand - Between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012.
New for 2011! Now Honoring HAI Patient Education efforts!
For outstanding patient educational efforts, new in 2011, the HAI Patient Education Award will be given to a healthcare facility or system who has developed an educational program with the goal of educating patients and their family members about ways to reduce the risk of acquiring an HAI during their visit or stay in the healthcare facility.
The healthcare facilities receiving First Place in each category in each region will be recognized as follows:
